Knob Sink Mixer FAQs

Q. What is a Knob Sink Mixer?

A Kitchen knob sink mixer is a faucet that allows you to control the temperature and flow of water using knobs. Unlike a lever mixer that uses a single handle, a knob mixer typically features two separate knobs—one for hot water and one for cold. As a result, this design allows for more precise control over the water temperature.

Q. How does a Knob Sink Mixer work?

Initially, hot and cold water enters from the respective adjustable legs and into the sink mixer. From there, the flow of each side is controlled by a brass cartridge. Next, the flow of hot and cold water can be controlled by simply opening the respective cartridges using knobs. Subsequently, the outflow from the cartridges is then diverted towards the spout (neck).

Q. What are the benefits of knob sink mixers?

  • Swivel Spout: A swivel spout allows the mixer to rotate 180 or even 360 degrees, providing maximum flexibility and access to the entire sink area
  • Temperature Control: Easy mixing of water to achieve the desired temperature. This can be easily done by using the knobs
  • Versatility: Suitable for a range of kitchen tasks, from washing dishes to preparing food

Q. Can I install knob mixers in any kitchen?

Indeed, you can install the knob mixers in any kitchen, provided that the piping system is positioned above the sink.

Q. What should I do if I notice a leak in knob sink mixers?

It is best practice to turn off the water supply to the leaked fittings. Water dripping can damage the tiles and marble in kitchens. Afterward, locate the leak. It can be in any one of the three areas:

  • From the connection between the body and the piping system
  • From the brass cartridges
  • From the outlet

Here is what you can do to resolve the issues:

First Case: check the connections between the wall body goda and piping system. Replace the washers and tighten the nut

Second Case: remove the knobs and tighten the cartridge to see if the leak stops. If not, then replace the brass cartridge

Third Case: tighten the knobs. If the leak doesn’t stop, then replace the cartridge
